The idea has been kicked around several books over the years, but i wanted to try and develop some recipes that are designed to fit in a 750ml bottle. Some will probably dislike the idea because it takes out some of the "craft" in making cocktails - you certainly don't get to go through the motions in making the cocktail itself. However, there are a lot of distinct advantages which might make bottled cocktails far superior to the individually constructed cocktail:
(1) Larger batches reduce the amount of work that it takes to make your favorites.
(2) No need to mix drinks at a party - they can be made ahead of time.
(3) Better consistency and control of the ratios of ingredients.
(4) More consistency with regards to water dilution.
(5) Better temperature control - chill it how you like.
(6) You can give them as a gift - and reuse old decorative liquor bottles.
(7) Large batches ensure that everyone tries the exact same drink.
(8) Unfinished bottles can be stored in the fridge.
Many of the drinks offered haven't been fully vetted yet, so feel free to try them out and give me comments on what you'd like to change. Also, if you have any suggestions for bottled cocktails, i will put them up on my website (with credit where credit is due). Look at the list to the right, and mix to your heart's content. Incidentally, the math for translating "regular" drinks into bottled cocktails is pretty simple. Take a drink recipe and multiply it to make 20 oz of liquid. (You might have to round some ingredients to make it work right). Then add 6 oz of water, and chill the drink in the back of the fridge or in the freezer.
